Office Digression - Dialog 1
Yes, I disrupted my Interpreting Audience series to write a small digression regarding my total distaste of office humor and aesthetic. I use this as my motivation to avoid the office and start a business of my own (where there will be no office… just your computer and maybe a Jittery Joes coffee shop). This is a post for me to test the water of my audience - which many will probably think wow… this guy is nuts - but bear with me. Having been in several offices, I will compose a rendition of the dialog I expect to hear in an office (which is grossly inaccurate, but remember I use this for my motivation):
Bob: Hey Sandra - how did the foot surgery go?
Sandra: Great, Bob! See my cast? Don’t cause any trouble and make me get up! Haha!
Bob: Ha! You’re hilarious. I’ll hold off on the horseplay today… just for you!
Bob awkwardly shifts his weight back, as though he is contemplating leaving Sandra’s office… but then thinks of something else to say.
Bob: Did… you get my email with those reports I sent you?
Sandra: Yeah - I didn’t know you were going to write me a novel! I also saw the Dilbert comic you sent me. HILLLLarious.
Bob: I’ll forward you some more funny stuff later. You’re just a hoot, Sandra. I need to go back to work - you’ll get me in trouble with the way you distract me sometimes! Haha!
Sandra: Alright - almost 5 o’clock anyways… AM I RIGHT? Aaaahahaha!
I just died a little on the inside.
